Digital Artwork

Overview

Below is a project I completed during my 11th grade year, 2019. The goal was to create a three-panel room divider with the following specifications. The final design had to be submitted as an Adobe Illustrator file, being the median used to create this it also had to be colored coded and consist of fully connected digital lines in order to be sent to a lazar-cutter for a physical model. My design focused more on a natural and organic design compared to my classmates which went for a more geometric design.

The birds were inspired by images of swallows and sparrows in a flying motion. The curving lines supporting them were originally free handed and meant to visually represent the bird flying through the panels. The lines are meant to represent the motion of wind and add that element of movement throughout. At first, I hand-drew the design in order to figure out exactly how I wanted it to look. From that point forward I spent weeks putting it into Adobe Illustrator. I am very happy with how it turned out and exactly how I envision it.
